This is Dan from Alburquerque, New Mexico. As you’ll be able to tell from the photos below he loves having fun and riding his bike.
Commute Distance: 15 miles roundtrip
What got you started? I commuted on and off for 20ish years but committed to it pretty much every day 5 1/2 years ago after reading Mr. Money Mustache’s article on Getting Rich with Bikes.
What Kind of Bike: I ride a 1987 Schwinn Traveler, bought for me new by my parents to train for rowing when I was a sophomore in college (Stay long, Gauchos!). Transformed to fixed gear with spray can repaint in 2003 – 27″ rims, Mavic MA2 radial laced on the front, Suzue basic flip flop on a Weinman rim on the back. 40 x 16 with Sakae SE 170 cranks. Dia-Compe front brake, SPD pedals, clip and flip bars.
Repainted in flat black in 2015 after a welding repair.
